FACTS OF INTEREST:

A decade or so ago, I read a sign at one of the animal houses in the Milwaukee Zoo that read as follows:

There are 4237 species of mammals on this planet.
981 species are bats; 1729 are rodents...

Doing the math,

          981 + 1729 = 2710    (100 %)        -- total bats and rodents
         2710 / 4237 = 0.6396 (call it 64 %)  -- rodents or bats
         1729 / 4237 = 0.4080 (call it 41 %)  -- rodents
           981 / 4237 = 0.2315 (call it 23 %)  -- bats

If this logic were applied to people I know, approximately 4 out of 10 would be rats
and another 2 would be batty.

After much consideration, I find this way too close for comfort...

I don't even want to think about reptiles and amphibians...

*** Kane Rosario, Asst. Outreach Manager of the World Animal Foundation, has kindly taken the time to give me updated statistics on the
number of mammals currently identified by scientists. That number is more than 6,631 species. I'm not sure how my math holds up,
anymore, but I suspect it just gives us more opportunities to disappoint each other... Thank you, anyway, Kane ***
