"Caught in a loop"

Zane Zahner & Brian R. Baer

Give me the data. Give me a date.
Love's the equation. Output can wait.
My program seemed perfect, but it ended all wrong!
Again you flashed "ERROR" and, blip, you were gone.

Love is a function that's hard to define.
It keys in your system and gets in your mind.
The logic escapes me, but I'm Basic’ly crazy for you.

My terminal's ready. It prompts with a line.
Next input your figure. It works overtime.
I've got to accept it, I never regret it, but you string me along.

Ooo, ooo, we're caught in a loop.
Ooo, ooo, we're caught in a loo-ooo-oop.

The scope of this challenge, bites right at my core.
A dump's all too likely, I need something more.
Something to hold to, a touch on the cheek;
An option to snuggle, a poke and a peek.

If love seems a cycle of good times and misses,
Then erase all the fighting and save all the kisses.
It's random selection, escaping detection-- I love you!

The letters I've printed are unread and returned.
I've searched through your file, with open concern.
The absolutes vary! My position's too wary,
Let me love you!

Ooo, ooo, we're caught in a loop.
Ooo, ooo, we're caught in a loo-ooo-oop.

Command, list or load me, continue to mold me,
Go to the head of the line;
Memory soars with remarks that restore.
Step your response up to mine.

I've entered this format, infinite times;
The logic is flawless, but it's only mine,
A series of questions, overflow the signs.

I twist and arrange them, multiple times;
Alphabetize them and see if they rhyme;
But I'm only kidding, there is no logic to love you.

Ooo, ooo, we're caught in a loop.
Ooo, ooo, we're caught in a loo-loo-loop.

(***author's note: The challenge of this song was to see how many terms from the Basic Programming Language I could use in a love song. Cute, huh?***)
