WALKING IN THE RHYTHM OF GRACE

Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11: 29 – 30 (The Message)

Doesn’t it sound lovely to walk in the rhythm of grace? Sounds peaceful. Sounds like how I’d like to live my life. But how to do it and what does it mean?

What is grace? Perfect Grace comes from God giving us the gift of Jesus. Giving us the gift we didn’t deserve. So to walk in grace must be to walk with God.

What creates the rhythm? A walk with God creates its own rhythm. There is looking for God, meeting with Him in prayer and the Bible. Then moving through our day facing whatever comes until we once again come back to Him. And this pattern repeats until, on the seventh day, we rest in Him. Just lay back and rest in His arms.

So the rhythm of God is seek, find, spend time, move forward and rest. After the rest, we again seek, find, spend time, move forward and rest. This is the rhythm of grace.

And here is the song –

I walk in the rhythm of grace, I’m forgiven, I’m forgiven

No, no not a step out of place as I walk hand in hand with my God.

I walk in the rhythm of grace, it’s a journey, pages turning.

I walk in the rhythm of grace then I rest in the arms of His love.

There may be days of temptations

There may be days filled with rain

So many people and places

I don’t want to go, I don’t want to know

But with God it’ll be okay

I walk in the rhythm of grace, I’m forgiven, I’m forgiven

No, no not a step out of place as I walk hand in hand with my God.

And I’m free to live, and I’m free to love

All the cares are pushed behind

I walk in the rhythm of grace, then I rest in the arms of my God.

I walk in the rhythm of grace, then I rest in the arms of my God.
